AfterShokz Trekz Air Buttons
The AfterShokz Trekz Air has 3 primary buttons on their body, 2 back on the right area by the ear, one for power and volume up, and the other to lower the volume. The other button is on the left headphone which is a quick pickup or stop button.
AfterShokz Trekz Air Battery Life
The battery life is pretty outstanding for the device size itself, there is an active life and a standby lifetime. The active playback life for the battery is about 6 hours, which I can vouch for on my Trekz Air.
There is also a standby time is based on charged but not turned on, that battery life is expected at 10 days. The charging time clocks in at 2 hours to reach full battery levels for the next play session.
AfterShokz Trekz Air Pairing
Pairing is a pretty simple process on the AfterShokz Trekz Air and is done by following just the simple steps below:
- Powered Down – Make sure your Trekz Air headphones are powered down
- Enter pairing mode – Press and hold the volume+ button for 5-7 seconds.
- Your headphones will turn on, and then the LED light will flash red and blue.
- Select From You Device – This will depepnd on your device but you go into Bluetooth and add a Bluetooth device and when in pairing mode you will see the headphones listed.
When I pair my headphones it literally takes me less than 10 seconds as it takes 5 seconds to get into pairing mode.

There are some features that I wanted to detail out for you in the IPx rating as this tells you how the headphones will hold up to dust and water exposure.
AfterShokz Trekz Air IP Rating
The AfterShokz Trekz Air has an IP rating of IP55 which makes them water-resistant, but most definitely not at all waterproof. While some moisture is fine I would not recommend them to ever be submerged underwater.
Are the AfterShokz Trekz Air Waterproof?
As with what has been listed above the rating of the Trekz Air of IP55 just isn’t a waterproof rating which means you can choose to use them based on the IP Rating system but going past this rating could yield poor and could break the device.
AfterShokz Trekz Air Answer Call
This is super simple on the Trekz Air which just requires a single button press. You just need to click the multifunction button (left pad area) once while a call is coming in, then you will hear a beep and the call will be answered.
Once you choose to end your call all you need to do then is again click the multifunction button once while on a call and you’ll hear one beep and the call will end.
AfterShokz Trekz Air Reset
If you encounter issues where you can’t seem to pair and use your bone conduction headphones you may want to just do a reset on them. This way they can start fresh and then you can pair them as usual again to listen.
The steps to perform your Trekz Air Reset Are:
- Powered Down – Make sure your Trekz Air headphones are powered down
- Enter pairing mode – Press and hold the volume+ button for 5-7 seconds.
- Your headphones will turn on, and then the LED light will flash red and blue.
- Reset – Press and hold the multifunction button, volume+ button and volume- button simultaneously for 3-5 seconds. You’ll hear beeps and/or feel vibrations.
- Power Down – Turn your headphones off

AfterShokz Trekz Air Review
Personally, I love and they made me a permanent fan of bone conduction headphones as they have changed my impression of what headphones can be. As for the price, while some may worry and think they can go with a cheaper brand from China, the other brands fail a lot under real use and cost you over the long term.
AfterShokz Trekz Air Battery Level
When you want to check the battery level on your headphones you just need to click on your volume+ or volume- button while the music is paused. Then you will be told one of four messages from Battery High, Battery Medium, Battery Low, or Charge Me.
AfterShokz Trekz Air Sound Leakage
There is definitely some sound leakage with the AfterShokz Trekz Air but it at most kind of sounds like a super low volume, almost like a super low Airpod sitting on a desk.
If you have more hair and it covers your ears this is highly muffled to almost zero sound, if you have a super short haircut as I do then it will be more possible to be heard.
I would also say if your volume is set to less than max this decreases a lot like much of what people hear is the vibration against your jaw, if you have the volume set more normal then this reverberation decreases a lot.
AfterShokz Trekz Air Mic Quality
The mic quality is very good at picking me up for phone calls and for voice recording without losing any distinguishable quality, when you call others they are able to hear you without issue even when you are in a noisy environment, at least from my headphones.
AfterShokz Trekz Air Troubleshooting
There are some issues many people have faced and I wanted to centralize a resource to help you figure out your best steps forward should issues occur.
Fix AfterShokz Trekz Air That Won’t Turn On
This is a very straightforward test and if it fails it needs to become a warranty request.
Confirm that you are pressing and holding the volume+ button, which acts as the power button on Trekz Air, for 3-5 seconds. Audrey will say “Welcome to Trekz Air.â€
If you continue to be unable to power on your headphones, and you’re still within two years since purchase, please file a warranty claim at AfterShokz.

AfterShokz Trekz Air Not Charging
Sometimes in their life, you may have issues charging your headphones, the best course of action is to change the charging cable as they can go bad quite simply, then the source of power for the cable.
If both of these don’t fix your charging issue then the only course of action, within those first 2 years, is to file a warranty claim.
If you continue to be unable to charge your headphones, and you’re still within two years since purchase, please file a warranty claim at AfterShokz.
AfterShokz Trekz Air Not Pairing
This is typically just a communication problem overall and can be easily fixed for most with a manual hard reset on the Trekz Air.
You can perform a manual reset on your headphones by following these instructions:
- Start with your headphones off.
- Enter pairing mode by pressing and holding the volume+ button for 5-7 seconds. Your headphones will turn on, and then the LED light will flash red and blue.
- Press and hold the multifunction button, volume+ button and volume- button simultaneously for 3-5 seconds. You’ll hear beeps and/or feel vibrations.
- Turn your headphones off.
Your headphones are now reset and can be re-paired to your device. In addition, we suggest turning the phone off and back on again before beginning the pairing process.
Your Trekz Air keeps disconnecting from your devices – If your headphones are unable to maintain a Bluetooth connection, and you’re still within two years since purchase, please file a warranty claim at AfterShokz.
