The Chromecast from Google is a great product, to say the least. It transforms your ordinary TV into a smart one, allowing you to enjoy an incredible TV-watching experience.

It includes modern streaming features as well as a user interface that is both smooth and intuitive. What about audio, though? Can you use Chromecast with Bluetooth headphones?

Yes, you can! For newer Chromecast versions, you can just enter the setting menu and start pairing your Bluetooth headphones from there. Make sure to put your headphones in pairing mode before.

Not all Chromecasts support Bluetooth, though. There are other workarounds for that. You can connect directly to your TV if it supports Bluetooth. Or you can use a Bluetooth receiver.

Does Google’s Chromecast Support Bluetooth Headphones?

Google is an enormous company. Yes, I know that I did not mention anything out of the obvious. Well, anyway, that means that they have a lot of products and services. And some are an absolute joy to use.

Chromecast is one of those products. There are just so many things a Chromecast can do. But you know one thing that Google does not make much fuss about? Well, it is the ability to play audio through Bluetooth headphones.

It just makes the experience much more interesting and not to mention relaxing. So, yes, google does support the ability to play audio through Bluetooth headphones.

This is pretty useful when you just want to get immersed in the show you are watching and your TV speakers are just not cutting it.

Have a high-end pair of headphones? Why let them go to waste? You can easily connect them to your Chromecast and start enjoying crisp audio along with a smooth viewing experience.

How To Connect Bluetooth Headphones To Your Chromecast

Being such a huge software company that Google is, one thing is for certain. They have mastered the art of making technology easy to use. Technology that moves out of the way and also.

That is also true for Chromecast. If you want to pair your wireless headphones with it, you can do it pretty easily. Here is a simple step-by-step guide to getting it done.

I will break down the process depending on which Chromecast you are using and also your setup. So, let’s get started.

Chromecast Version from 2020

If you happen to have a Chromecast that came out in 2020 that has a dedicated remote, then the process is very simple and easy.

Step 1 – Turn on Your Chromecast and Navigate to Settings

The first order of business is to turn your Chromecast on. You would then want to navigate to the settings menu. Do not worry about finding it. It is pretty easy to find.

Just bring up the home screen menu and click on settings.

Step 2 – Click on Remotes and Accessories

After you go to the settings menu, you will see a lot of submenus. From here you can change a lot of things about how your Chromecast acts. But that is not important now.

For connecting your Bluetooth headphones, you need to go to the ‘Remotes and Accessories’ submenu. Click on it.

Step 3 – Click on Pair Remote or Accessories

Once you are in the correct menu, it is pretty much a no-brainer from here. Connecting your Bluetooth headphones from here is pretty much like connecting them to your phone.

Click on Pair Remotes or Accessories and it should start searching for compatible devices to connect to.

Step 4 – Set your headphones to pairing mode

Just clicking on the pair button from your Chromecast is not enough. You need to make sure your headphones are ready to pair with it as well.

For that, you will need to put your headphone in pairing mode too.

Step 5 – Click on connect

After you put your headphones into pairing mode, you will see the option pop up on the Chromecast. The name of the device should be pretty obvious.

Just click on it, and it will automatically pair with your headphones.

Pro Tip: You can turn off other Bluetooth devices that may be interfering with the connection. This will make it super easy for you to locate the exact headphone you want to pair with.

If you are having technical issues, you can ask the Chromecast to forget devices. Do this and pair them again if you are having trouble.

Older Versions Of Chromecast

If you have the new ones, then the process is pretty easy. For older versions of Chromecasts, there is still a way to connect your Bluetooth headphones to it.

And the process is not as difficult as you might imagine. You do not need to jump through hoops to do it.

There are multiple methods you can connect Bluetooth headphones with Chromecast, typically using television-enabled Bluetooth.

For Bluetooth Enabled TVs

If your TV supports Bluetooth, then the process is almost as simple as connecting to your Chromecast. Of course, this means that you need to have a generally recent TV model.

Nearly all of the more recent televisions will frequently support Bluetooth.

Step 1: Navigate to your TV’s settings menu.

Step 2: Go to the audio sections. There should be an option to connect Bluetooth devices here. I cannot give you exact instructions here since all TV brand’s menus can be slightly different.

Do not worry though, manufacturers do not try to make these things overly difficult and if necessary you can refer to your TV’s manual here.

Step 3: Once you have located the Bluetooth connectivity options, you can go ahead and turn your Bluetooth headphones on and put them on pairing mode.

Step 4: Just like the previous method, you should now see your headphones pop up on your TV. Click on it to connect. Voila, you are done.

For TVs Without Bluetooth

If you have a TV that does not support Bluetooth, there is still a workaround. You need to get a Bluetooth transmitter. These nifty little devices can work with both old and newer TVs. They can work with any TV.

Since transmitters can have different menu systems, it is not viable to mention all of them. But that does not mean they are difficult to work with though. You should be able to connect your headphones pretty easily.

Just check out the manual that the transmitter came with. The general steps are pretty much the same.

You need to connect the Bluetooth transmitter to the TV and navigate to settings to pair it with your headphones. You can check out this article for some FAQs.

Some Chromecast Audio Tips

Before wrapping up, I wanted to leave you some additional tips on how you can improve the audio quality of your Chromecast. These are pretty simple tips. And most of them are just basic best practices.

Doing these will help you get the most out of your Chromecast. It will give you a better and more immersive listening experience.

  • Enable Full Dynamic Range: This option might not be turned on by default. If it is turned off, then you might be leaving some audio performance on the table. Google has a pretty useful guide on this as well.
  • Use the Cables and Accessories Provided in the Box: Make sure to use the accessories and cables that came with the box. They have been tested to be the best match for your device. There is a reason the manufacturer put them there. This will increase your chance to get the best output.
  • Do Not Sit Too Far Away From the TV: Okay, this one is a bit obvious. You probably know that Bluetooth has a specific range. Do not stay too far otherwise it might lose connection or the sound quality can suffer.

Wrapping Up

This should answer all your questions about can you use Chromecast with Bluetooth headphones. The process is very simple and if you have the newer Chromecast models, it is just as easy as connecting Bluetooth devices with your phone.
